Keywords research. Where to start?

Research or analysis of key words (search terms) - is the most important stage in the planning of a site on the Internet. Such analysis should be conducted before the creation of site architecture and contextual filling of the web site. Analysis of search terms helps identifying the competition and building a clever optimization strategy and website promotion.

Keyword Analysis of the Site - define semantic core

Where to start? I want to define a few moments associated primarily with the analysis of key words for the English-language web site (although the same logic applies to the resources in different languages).

1. Define a list of the most significant aspects of our business;

2. Think of the potential visitors: what they will be interested in on the site;

3. Explore strategies of competitors (it is enough to understand in what manner they work);

4. Studying the linguistic features of our niches: special dictionaries, glossaries, etc.

The first three items are more or less clear, so let’s look in more detail at the fourth. There are plenty of resources, among which I would single out the following:

Keyword analysis - a web site niche

The free dictionary provides a wealth of useful information on any term:

• Identification of key words
• idioms, in which the term is used,
• examples of use,
• cognate words
• Case definition
• classical literary references,
• use of phrases
• acronyms.

Wordnet provides definitions and examples of use for your term.

Rhyme Zone defines the term and finds:

rhymes

synonyms

antonyms.

Synonym.com shows synonyms and antonyms.

Cambridge online dictionary lists the most necessary definitions and phrases.

Meta Glossary finds definitions of words, synonyms, and words, similar in value.

Reference.com shows synonyms and definitions of key words.

Merriam-Webster dictionary lists definitions and derivations.

Urban Dictionary provides similar in value terms and definition.
